Hoist your Sail # 14
“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.”
Deuteronomy 6:4-7 ESV
This week my son, Ezekiel turned 11. We had a family birthday party for him. Since we have no family around we invited the people who have invested in his life. We had around 14 adults come to his party. We made a poster with his name in acrostic with adjectives that describe him. I asked each adult who came to write a word to add to that poster that described Ezekiel or how they see God working in Ezekiel’s life. As he heads into middle school this next year my hope and prayer is that as the world tries to give him false identities he will return to what is true. He will return to God‘s word and to the people God has placed in his life who can speak truth into him.
My prayer for you this week is that you speak truth into your kids lives. Spend time together in God’s word. Allow Him to speak identity into your kids. Spend some time with God asking the Holy Spirit to reveal what He is doing in the lives of your kids and join Him there.
Last Sunday we reviewed the resurrection story.

Big picture question: Why does God want us to obey Him? Obedience is our response to God‘s love for us.
