We are in the middle of spring time and with that comes spring cleaning and organizing. I am not by nature a very crafty or creative person. Actually on many of the personality tests including the enneagram, I scored a zero in art. So for me to come up with creative ideas is pretty amazing. This week as I was organizing our bathroom and feeling so proud of the end result, I started thinking about spring cleaning my life. I asked the Holy Spirit to search me and know me, every crevice, every corner and reveal anything that needed to be changed. Spring is a great time to ask the Holy Spirit to search you and do some “spring cleaning” in your life. I challenged the elementary kids this week to draw a circle around them and tell God that they give Him everything in that circle. I challenged them to give all of their self, no hidden corners or closet but all of who they are to Him.
I challenge you to do the same. Ask your kids about it this week. Ask them if God spoke anything to them this week. I also reminded them that daily they can draw a circle around themselves and give God all of who they are. The Holy Spirit is working in the lives of your kids. I can see it! Ask God what He is doing and join Him there. Lift up your sail just like on a sailboat and allow His wind to power you in your parenting and in your own lives.
“And He who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.”
Romans 8:27 ESV
Last week your kids heard the story from James 2:1-13
Read Ahead: 1 John 3:10-18 Love One Another
Main point: John wrote that others will know we are Christians because we love one another.
Memory verse: Galatians 2:20
Big picture question: Why does God want us to obey him? Obedience is our response to God‘s love for us.
