Hoist your Sail # 15
“And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
Colossians 3:17 ESV
This week was death defying for my family. I smelled gas as I was going to sleep. My husband was out of town so I debated for two hours wither I was overreacting. I finally called the gas company at midnight. Per their instructions, we waited out in the car. They came out and detected large amounts of carbon monoxide. I believe that God allowed some natural gas to leak so I would know something was wrong.
He protected our family. I was supposed to go out of town this week, to join my husband at the end of his business trip, for our anniversary. About a month ago I told him I did not feel like I was supposed to go for some reason. I’m so thankful I listened to that quiet nudging. Based on the levels of carbon monoxide that night, my kids may not have woken up.
I learned so many things from this experience. One is that carbon monoxide detectors only last 10 years and you should check them regularly. Second, sometimes the feelings we get are quiet nudges from the Holy Spirit. Learn to hear them. Test them so you know what is from God and what is not.
I am so thankful to our Lord for his protection over my family. Praise the Lord with me for His protection over your family this week. Share with your kids one way you see Gods protection in your life. Ask your kids if they have seen God's protection in their lives.
